MUNZ Women

Fee Mansell

Fee Mansell is the Maritime Union national women’s representative 2021.

Fee has worked for KiwiRail-Interislander as a Cabin Attendant for over ten years.

In the last 5 years she became a shipboard delegate for MUNZ and then progressed to the Wellington Branch Executive as the Local Women’s Rep in November 2018.

Since taking up this task Fee has been involved in a variety of discussions including Negotiations with Kiwirail, High Performance/High Engagement (HPHE), disciplinaries and almost everything to do with the On-Board Services Department across the fleet.

“My time as the Women’s Rep so far has empowered, educated and encouraged me to grow as a member of this Union, therefore it is my mission to pass on all I have learned and still learning onto all other Union Members especially our younger members as they are our future leaders.”

In 2020 Fee was elected to become the National Women’s Rep.

Fee says this was proud moment for her.

“I never ever wanted to become a delegate in the first place and now here I am sitting on the National Council for MUNZ.”

She sees her main achievement in her time as a delegate and Women’s Rep is the new Preganancy Policy within KiwiRail to give our pregnant seafarers more favourable terms and conditions.

At the start of 2021 Fee joined the Women’s Council for the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions (NZCTU).

“There is so much work to be done for all of us in the Trade Union Movement. I am extremely proud to be part of it, I really want to encourage every member to be actively involved.”

Fee is currently helping organise the MUNZ women’s delegation to attend the 2021 NZCTU Women’s Conference.
