Maritime Union of New Zealand says it will stop work on blacklisted ship in Australian dispute

The Maritime Union of New Zealand says it will stop work on the ship involved in the Port Kembla waterfront dispute in Australia if it comes to New Zealand.

Maritime Union General Secretary Trevor Hanson says if the MV Capo Noli enters any port in New Zealand, the dispute in Port Kembla will be immediately extended to New Zealand.

The Union has offered its full support to the Maritime Union of Australia, who are fighting an attempt by multinational shipping corporation CSL to make Third World crews do waterfront work in Port Kembla in New South Wales.

Ports of Auckland workers want their share

Maritime workers at Ports of Auckland say their industrial action is about getting a fair share of the profit their hard work generates.

Workers at the Ports of Auckland will be on strike from 0700 hours on 2 October 2007 to 0659 hours on 4 October.

Maritime workers stand strong on Ports of Auckland picket

A positive upbeat mood and a sense of unity and determination is present at the Maritime Union of New Zealand picket line outside Ports of Auckland today.

250 workers at the Ports of Auckland container terminals are on strike for better pay and conditions.

Work stoppage announced for Ports of Auckland

Workers at the Ports of Auckland have issued a strike notice in order to hold a stop work meeting between 12 noon and 4.30pm on Friday 5 June 2009 to discuss employment issues.

The Maritime Union of New Zealand announced the stoppage after mediation with port company management about new work conditions for union members to avoid redundancies took place on Thursday 21 May.

Maritime Union of New Zealand Local 13 President Denis Carlisle says the stopwork meeting will bring together workers at the Port to discuss ongoing negotiations around their expired collective employment agreement, which had been impacted by a management plan to slash jobs.
